🔑 Privacy-First Commitment: Magic Memories uses industry-standard client-side encryption. Your private memories are never stored on our servers in plaintext.
1. Information Collection and Storage
Magic Memories stores all your data directly on your device using a secure local database. Here is what we collect and store:
- Memories (Notes & Photos): The titles, text descriptions, photos, and thumbnails you save are stored in an encrypted local database (Drift + SQLCipher) on your device.
- Master Cryptographic Keys: Cryptographic keys used to encrypt your database are generated locally and stored securely using your device's hardware-level secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore). We do not have access to these keys.
- Google Drive Integration: If you choose to enable Cloud Sync, we collect your Google Account metadata (ID, email address) to authorize authentication and access your private, hidden Google Drive App Data folder.
2. Data Encryption and Cloud Synchronization
To keep your data safe, we implement double-layer security measures:
- Local Encryption at Rest: Your local database file is encrypted at rest using a 256-bit AES key.
- Transit & Storage Encryption: Before uploading a backup to Google Drive, the file is encrypted again using a unique transit-level AES-256 key. The backup is uploaded to a private app-specific folder on your Google Drive that other applications cannot access. Not even Google or Magic Memories developers can decrypt and read your synced backup file.
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with any third parties. All memory data is kept strictly inside your own device or your own private Google Drive storage space.
4. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You have full control over your data at all times:
- Disable Cloud Sync: You can turn off Google Drive backups inside the app settings at any time.
- Delete Local Data: You can completely wipe all local memories and credentials by clearing the app data on your device or choosing "Reset Database" in settings.
- Delete Cloud Backups: Your backups are stored in your Google Drive inside a "Magic Memories" folder. Open Google Drive, navigate to the "Magic Memories" folder, and delete the backup file to permanently remove it.
5. Age Ratings and Target Audience
Magic Memories is intended for general audiences. We do not display third-party advertisements or process sensitive, unencrypted personal information of children.
